Marine robots — diving systems

IFR splits water-based robots into surface swimming (B1) and diving (B2). The BlueROV2 is a tethered remotely operated vehicle — a robotic device, not an autonomous robot. Surface and diving systems have different depth and payload definitions and are not cross-compared.

Class definition

Water-based robots swim on the surface (B1) or dive under it (B2). A teleoperated underwater vehicle is a robotic device because it lacks the autonomy to navigate on its own; the BlueROV2 is labeled accordingly. [A1]

BlueROV2 — tethered ROV

A six-thruster tethered remotely operated vehicle for underwater inspection; depth rating depends on the tube material (acrylic vs aluminum).
